The Brind Family

Now settling in Mwanza, Tanzania, having taken over the dental duties of Ian Wilson under the auspices of Bridge2Aid.
In their latest report, Paul and Beth write:
It is commonly believed that the pace of life in Africa is slower than in the UK: well, that has not been our experience! Two months ago we set off for our new home in Mwanza, Tanzania, with our children Isaac (2) and Hannah (6 weeks). We have been very busy since our arrival, settling into a new home, new climate, new culture, getting stuck into work with Bridge2Aid, making new friends, studying Swahili, learning how to avoid mosquitoes and function with frequent power cuts.
Isaac and Hannah have taken everything in their stride for which we are thankful. We are aware of God's faithfulness to us in everything, big and small, during this time of change and challenges.
The welcome we have received from local believers and the Mwanza community has been amazing. Isaac has made many friends and has been a great bridge to getting to know other families. For several weeks now there has been a ladies’ Bible study meeting at our house: Paul has joined a men's group and Isaac goes to a kids’ Bible club. We see that there is a desire and need for a Christian fellowship to reach many English speakers and we are exploring what our role may be in meeting this need.
Next month is the first time we will be taking a lead role in the dental training programme that teaches and equips rural 'clinical officers' to provide safe extractions and dental pain relief in areas where people with toothache would otherwise have limited and often unsafe options. This is a time of intense friendship building with the short-term volunteers, which provides opportunities for sharing the motivation behind the work that we do and the love that we have for the people we serve. (Matt 25:40)
